They gave away my convertible. 🙁
Beth and I arrived in Charlotte around 9PM and proceeded to the rental counter to pick up the Mustang convertible. Reserved and paid for.
The woman behind the counter, who was very nice, felt bad that they had no more convertibles.
“What!?!” was my question, while Beth was silently reminding me to be nice (a role that Anni plays when we travel together).
Long story short. No convertible and trying harder doesn’t matter when you don’t deliver Avis!
I will tell that story over and over. It may keep a few people from using Avis. However, Avis will survive.
Here’s the marketing lesson. Today, trying to grow your business using so called “word-of-mouth” marketing will be super slow with very limited results.
It’s the same LIE that advisors are taught. Just get your name out there.
Trying to “get your name out there” is a complete waste of time and money.
Instead, send a 3-step campaign, with ONE ACTION step, with benefits for taking the action and have a deadline.
It’s time to hold your marketing accountable… and STOP trying to get your name out there… and stop waiting for word of mouth to grow your business!
